MUSIC MEETS PSYCHOLOGY
My wife and I have created our very own recital-concert format, where music and psychology – our individual fields – can join together.
Music and relevant findings from psychology coalesce there in a highly vibrant dialogue between a spoken ad lib probe into the composer’s life and character and the piano’s own sensual sonic narrative.
This makes for an illuminating, enjoyable and artistically invigorating joint evening, where listeners will learn alot about the composers' historical and personal environment in the context of their best-known piano works.
In entertaining keynotes my wife looks from a psychologist‘s and a music lover’s perspective into what shaped and conditioned the composer, and the way he or she felt about their lives.
My own part is to weave a kind of auditory musical spell with my playing to let the music resonate and reflect what the words point to.
Titled "Beethoven, the Spellbinder – A Different View", the recital celebrated the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth, uncovering the many sides of his personality, his essence and his works – illustrious and sombre, multifaceted and profound.
More recital-concerts are planned from the coming summer/autumn onwards, and this time we’ll be looking at Beethoven and Schubert, somewhat in the style of a Schubertiade. Please contact us with any requests for further details.
